Sikkim Grievance

Gangtok, June 13: After a long wait of 25 years, the people of Sikkim will now have access to dedicated Grievance Cells in each Block Administrative Centre, Sub-Divisional Office, and District Administrative Centre.

This significant announcement was made by the Honorable Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Golay, during his “Janta Bhet Karyakram.” The immediate implementation of this mechanism aims to address the concerns of the people more effectively.

In every Block Administrative Centre, a Government Grievances Cell will be established, staffed by four appointed officials. These officials will receive and process grievance applications from individuals residing within their respective blocks, ensuring that the concerns are given due consideration by the government.

The Grievances Cell will collect the applications from the people and submit them to the Chief Minister’s Office every Monday. The operating hours of the cell will be from 9 AM to 5 PM, allowing ample time for citizens to voice their grievances.

This innovative approach by the government ensures that the voices of the people of Sikkim are heard and acted upon promptly. The proactive measures taken by the SKM Government have been highly appreciated by the citizens, who have described the state’s development initiatives as progressing at “5G Speed.”

According to the official notice, the Government of Sikkim is delighted to implement the Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System. The system will be established at the District Administrative Centre, Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre, and Block Administrative Centre, aiming to enhance the responsiveness of the administration towards citizen grievances.

The Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System will operate from 9 am to 5 pm at the respective Districts, Sub-Division, and Block Centres. It will address various issues related to service delivery, including non-receipt of government scheme benefits, delays in obtaining essential documents such as certificates, matters concerning the Chief Minister Swasthya Subidha Yojana Scheme, and other benefits like pensions and scholarships provided by the Government of Sikkim.

Furthermore, the system will handle concerns regarding electricity supply, water supply, waste management, road repairs, and other government services. Individual citizen issues will also be addressed through this system.

To submit a grievance application, members of the public can provide hard copies of their application, along with their contact details, email addresses, and mobile number, at the designated Centres in Districts, Sub-Divisions, and Blocks. Upon submission, the applicants will receive an acknowledgment receipt from the Nodal Officials in the prescribed format.

In a bid to ensure transparency, the District Administrative Centre, Sub-Divisional Administrative Centre, and Block Administrative Centre will prominently display the list of required documents to be enclosed with the grievance application.

Nodal Officials will compile all received grievances daily and forward them to the Chief Minister’s Office every week, preferably on Monday. The Chief Minister’s Office will take necessary actions to address and resolve the grievances.

Within one month, the IT Department will develop software and a mobile application for the Grievance Redressal and Monitoring System. This will enable the general public to submit their grievances electronically, further streamlining the process and increasing accessibility.

The implementation of this mechanism showcases the Government of Sikkim’s commitment to improving citizen services and promptly addressing their grievances. The approval from the Competent Authority emphasizes the government’s dedication to efficiently serving the people of Sikkim.
