Social distancing goes for a toss in Guwahati, a thousand youths gather to appear in NHM interview.

Guwahati: Social distancing goes for a toss in Guwahati, at a time when the government is appealing to the people to maintain social distance amid the Coronavirus outbreak, thousand of youths on Tuesday gathered at Sarusajai stadium in Guwahati to appear in an interview by violating all social distancing norms.

The National Health Mission, Assam on Tuesday had interviewed at Sarusajai stadium to fill up 25 numbers post of cleaner for different hospitals where the COVID-19 patients’ treatment is going on.

Amid Coronavirus lockdown, thousand of youths had gathered at the stadium to appear in the interview.

The National Health Mission had issued the advertisement for 25 posts, but thousand of youths came from different parts of the state to appear in the interview.

Many security personnel had been deployed to maintain social distancing, but many candidates were seen for violating the government’s orders.

A candidate said that, in this critical situation, all people should have to maintain social distancing.

“I am staying in Guwahati and come here to appear in the interview. I come to know about it yesterday,” the youth said.

Assam has reported 27 positive cases for COVID-19 so far.
