Soreng, April 19: As the country gears up for simultaneous Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, Soreng in Sikkim stands out with its colorful initiative – the “Pink Voting Booth.”

Nestled in the serene environs of Yatri Niwas, this distinctive booth promises to be a hub of democratic fervor and inclusivity.

A total of 1122 registered voters, including the esteemed presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, are poised to participate in this novel electoral experience.

Dona Rai, the presiding officer, exudes confidence in the team’s readiness to facilitate a smooth and impartial voting process.

“Six polling officers, supported by diligent police personnel, have been meticulously assigned to oversee the operations of the Pink booth,” Rai explained. “We are geared to kickstart mock polls at the crack of dawn, around 5 a.m., ensuring all logistical arrangements are flawlessly executed. Come 7 a.m., the official polling will commence, with every voter, including Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, exercising their democratic right within these vibrant walls.”
