SP office sealed in Itanagar Capital Complex after lady constable tests positive; community transmission feared

A lady constable posted in the office of Superintendent of Police in the Itanagar Capital Complex was found positive on Tuesday.

The entire office of the SP has been sealed after the incident.

Confirming the incident, Director General of Police (DGP) R. P. Upadhaya said, “The Capital SP Office has been sealed as one staff (lady constable) working in the office has been tested Covid-19 positive today. All the staff working at SP office will go for Coronavirus (Covid-19) test tomorrow and after proper disinfection of the office building and campus, the office will be allowed to open.

The COVID positive lady constable has been shifted to COVID Care Centre at Lekhi.

A seven day long, total lockdown has been imposed in Itanagar Capital Complex and the Domukh Circle of Papum Pare district from 6th July to 13th July.

The lockdown had began on Monday from 5 PM onwards in the region.

The Arunachal Pradesh cabinet issued guidelines for the lockdown and any person violating lockdown norms will be liable to strict legal actions, the notification mentioned.

 

The measure was taken fearing community transmission in the area.
