New Delhi, April 08: Amidst the enforcement of the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) and the onset of elections, the Suvidha platform has seen a surge in permission requests, receiving a noteworthy 73,379 applications within just 20 days.

Out of the total requests, 44,626 have been approved, marking a significant 60 percent approval rate, while approximately 15 percent (11,200) were rejected, and 10,819 were invalidated or duplicated. The remaining requests are currently under processing, as per data until April 7, 2024.

Tamil Nadu leads the tally with 23,239 requests, followed by West Bengal with 11,976 and Madhya Pradesh with 10,636. Conversely, Chandigarh (17), Lakshadweep (18), and Manipur (20) reported the lowest numbers of requests.

The Suvidha portal, an initiative by the Election Commission of India (ECI), serves as a robust technology solution to ensure fair and transparent elections.

It efficiently handles permissions and facilities requests from political entities, operating on a first-come, first-served basis.

The platform manages permissions for various election-related activities, including rallies, temporary party offices, door-to-door canvassing, video vans, helicopters, vehicle permits, and pamphlet distribution.

Available both online and offline, Suvidha enables seamless submission of requests from any location, enhancing accessibility and convenience for all stakeholders.

Backed by a strong IT infrastructure and overseen by nodal officers across state departments, Suvidha ensures swift processing of requests.

Additionally, its companion app enables real-time tracking, providing transparency and accountability throughout the process.
