Temporary suspension of stoppage of all passenger carrying trains at Dimapur station

Nagaland, May 18: Nagaland Government issued advice to Northeast Frontier Railway authority for suspension of the stoppage of all passenger carrying trains at Dimapur station temporarily till further advice with immediate effect.

Along with Dimapur station, alternative stoppages provided at Rangapahar, Bokajan, Khotkhoti & Diphu stations as a temporary measure, have also been withdrawn with immediate effect.

Nagaland reported 273 new Covid-19 cases and 104 recoveries on Monday, pushing the state’s active cases to 4253 and tally to 18,349.

The minister of Health and Family Welfare, S Pangnyu Phom informed that out of the 273 new cases, 119 were in Kohima, 61 in Mon, 58 in Dimapur, 10 in Tuensang, six in Wokha, five each in Mokokchung, Kiphire and Zunheboto, and four in Peren.

Last week, The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has converted 288 of its passenger coaches into Covid care isolation wards and is also equipping the existing six railway hospitals with oxygen plants.

This decision has taken to meet the Covid needs of different states, after modifying the 288 passenger coaches as Covid care isolation coaches with 4,608 beds, those were handed over to the northeastern state governments.

The NFR, one among the 17 railway zones in India, operates fully and partially in six of the eight northeastern states, excluding Meghalaya and Sikkim, and in seven districts of West Bengal and five districts of north Bihar.

While addressing the media virtually from NFR headquarters in Maligaon, near Guwahati, Gupta said that the NFR has provided facilities for treatment of Covid positive patients in six of its railway hospitals with a total of 354 beds.
