Itanagar, Nov 24: The Arunachal Pradesh government has taken strict action by terminating the services of 256 teachers, clerks, and multi-tasking staffers for presenting “forged and fabricated” appointment orders.

State Education Commissioner Amjad Tak issued termination orders after an inquiry committee found that these appointment letters were never officially issued by the directorate of elementary education.

The affected individuals, including primary teachers, trained graduate teachers, clerks, and multi-tasking staff, had secured their positions through fraudulent means.

The termination orders were issued in various districts, with the highest number of services terminated in Siang district (101), followed by Changlang (72), Anjaw (26), East Siang (18), Longding (10), Upper Subansiri (8), Kurung Kumey (6), Lohit and Lower Siang (4 each), three in the state capital region, two in Tirap, and one each in West Siang and Upper Siang district under the deputy director of secondary education.

An inquiry is ongoing, and a deputy director of secondary education in Longding district has already been suspended for involvement in the irregularities. The Chief Minister, Pema Khandu, has directed the case to be handled by a special investigation team of the state police.

The education department has also instructed authorities to file FIRs related to the forgery and fabrication of appointment orders. The committee’s examination of relevant records concluded that the purported appointment orders were never officially issued by the directorate of elementary education. The government is committed to taking administrative action against others found involved in the case.
