Itanagar, Sept 20: Three female Wushu athletes from the Sangay Lhaden Sports Academy (SLSA) in Itanagar have achieved a significant milestone by securing their spots to represent India at the 2023 Asian Games. The 19th Asian Games are set to be held in Hangzhou City, China, from September 23 to October 8.

Mepung Lamgu and Onilu Tega, both athletes from SLSA, will compete in the women’s ‘Taijiquan’ category, while Nyeman Wangsu will represent India in the women’s ‘Changquan’ category. These talented athletes have been trained by SLSA’s Wushu coach, Maibam Premchandra, whose guidance and expertise have been instrumental in their success.

Sports Director Tadar Appa commended the athletes for their exceptional talent and unwavering dedication. He expressed immense pride not only for the academy but also for the entire state and the nation as a whole. Appa firmly believes that the trio will bring glory to India with their outstanding performances on the global stage.
