Agartala, Sept 08: Vote counting commenced at 8 a.m. on Friday for the September 5 by-elections in Tripura’s Boxanagar and Dhanpur assembly constituencies, with the results scheduled to be announced later today.
In both constituencies, the main contest featured the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist).
Notably, two other opposition parties, TIPRA Motha and the Congress, chose not to field candidates in these by-elections. The BJP put forth Tafajjal Hossain and Bindu Debnath as their candidates for Boxanagar and Dhanpur, respectively, while the CPI(M) nominated Mizan Hossain for Boxanagar and Kaushik Chanda for Dhanpur.
