Tripura, April 7: Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb tested positive for Covid-19. Confirming the news in a tweet, the CM said he has isolated himself on the advice of doctors.

“I have been tested positive for Covid-19. I have isolated myself at home as per the advice of doctors. I request everyone to please follow all the covid appropriate behavior and stay safe,” he tweeted.

The Union Health Ministry stated that COVID-19 is spreading in India at a faster pace compared to last year. The next four weeks are very critical, the Health Ministry said.

NITI Aayog Member (Health) Dr. VK Paul said the pandemic situation in the country has worsened with a sharp rise in cases and a large part of the population is still susceptible to the virus.

Meanwhile, 630 COVID-19 deaths have been reported in the last 24 hours in India, the highest single-day toll since November 5.

India on Tuesday recorded the highest one-day spike of COVID-19 cases at 1.07 lakh. The number of daily cases in India breached the 1-lakh mark for the second time in three days.

The coronavirus caseload in India has seen a massive surge in the past couple of weeks.
