Tripura, Feb 11: The Tripura Congress on Tuesday launched the ‘Join Congress Social Media’ campaign as part of a pan-India program to counter propaganda, said Kuljit Singh Nagra.
Nagra, who is the AICC Tripura in-charge, addressed the press and said that the social media campaign has been launched to raise the voice of common people.
The Tripura Congress will recruit staff to reach out to the masses through different social media platforms like Facebook, WhatsApp and Twitter.
The party plans to recruit 100 individuals in each state assembly constituency along with 1,000 volunteers in each Lok Sabha constituency as part of this campaign. Another 2,000 volunteers would be recruited in the party’s social media cell.
This social media campaign has been launched to counter the various propaganda that the ruling BJP central and state governments try to promote through different social media platforms.
The tag line for this new initiative is “Join Congress on social media”.
“The ‘Godi media’ is not voicing dissenting voices from the states and these are suppressed in the name of being Pakistani, Chinese or anti-nationals,” Nagra said.
“We will shortlist selected people from the state, and they will undergo a workshop to learn the skills and how to take up the issue being faced by the people in the state,” Biswas said.

“The volunteers will be appointed in all levels to highlight all those issues which the media does not report,” Biswas added.
Nagra said that the Congress party does not believe in hidden propaganda and that’s why the Congress party has come open with the social media campaign.
Reacting to the launch of social media campaign by the Congress party, BJP state spokesperson Nabendu Bhattacharjee said that his party does not feel that the launching of the social media would create any problem for the ruling party.
