Tripura, May 25: Amid a surge in Covid cases, the Tripura government has decided to start the first paid Covid care centre in Agartala.
Speaking to the media, Education minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the paid Covid care centre will be set up at Ginger Hotel in Agartala in association with a private nursing home, Divine Touch Medi-clinic.
“The centre will start with 30-50 beds, of which 10 will have an oxygen concentrator support. The health department has imposed a cap of Rs 3,500 for a single room occupancy (private room), Rs 4,000 for double room single occupancy, and Rs 5,000 for double room double occupancy,” Nath said.
He also informed that the three-star hotel in coordination with the nursing home will provide all the services, including meals and packaged drinking water. However, medicines, investigation charges, consumables, and oxygen charges will be extra.
The West Tripura district magistrate has also issued a notification in this regard. The issue was discussed in detail at the meeting of Corona Crisis Management Group in the West Tripura district on Monday.
The Tripura government had formed a committee at the district level to deal with coronavirus. An important meeting of the West Tripura District Corona Crisis Management Group was held at the conference hall of the district magistrate’s office.
The meeting was attended by education minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Surajit Dutta, Brishketu Debbarma, the West Tripura DM, NHM Mission Officer, Sabhadipati of West Tripura district, West Tripura SP and officials from the administration, among others.

The West District Corona Crisis Management Group meeting discussed various issues in detail.
Nath said that a nursing home named Divine Touch Medi-clinic has taken the initiative to set up the private Covid care centre in Tripura for the first time.
“This the private covid care centre will be set up at Ginger Hotel. Patients will be able to avail of their services at a relatively affordable price,” Nath added.
The education minister further said that from now on, rapid antigen tests can be done at Agartala Medical College Hospital, IGM Hospital, and Tripura Medical College Hospital, if desired.
He added that the administration would take a tough stance to control commodity prices in Agartala markets. The issue was discussed at the Corona Crisis Management Group in the West Tripura district and will again be raised in the cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
