Agartala, May 14: Pratik Kishore Debbarman, the son of Tripura deputy CM Jishnu Dev Varma, allegedly misbehaved with members of the parliamentary standing committee on housing and urban affairs, reportedly in an inebriated condition.

Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Friday took a jibe at the Tripura unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) after Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma’s son Pratik Kishore Debbarman allegedly misbehaved with the parliamentary panel in Agartala.

West Bengal’s ruling party tweeted a short video of several CCTV footage on Friday showing that the Tripura Deputy CM’s son was in a drunken state and indulged in a brawl at Hotel Polo in Agartala. “Pride of BJP Tripura,” the TMC wrote along with the video.

According to the reports, Debbarman, reportedly, misbehaved with a team of MPs – members of the parliamentary standing committee on housing and urban affairs — that visited Tripura on Wednesday.

As per the reports, an altercation broke out between Debbarman and some people at the hotel, where the delegation of MPs was also staying. During the quarrel, Debbarman also allegedly abused Congress MP Digvijay Singh and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh.

When hotel officials tried to calm him down, he allegedly manhandled them too.

Later, the security staff of the hotel was pressed into action to get Debbarman out of the hotel. Following the scuffle, security was tightened at the hotel, it added.

Though police rushed to the spot after the tension, no action has been taken against the Deputy CM’s son yet.

“No action was taken against the son of Tripura’s Deputy CM. He got into a brawl in an inebriated state. He misbehaved with Hon’ble Parliamentarians. And Tripura police simply watched the show!” the TMC said in another tweet. Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb’s “Gunda Raj on fill display,” the party added. Tripura is going to witness assembly elections in 2023.
