Agartala, April 14: A three-day India-Bangladesh Tourism Festival is all set to commence next week at Agartala Ujjayanta Palace. This move comes in the wake of boosting tourism in Bangladesh and Tripura as well.

Reports have it that hotel owners, tour operators, and tourism officials along with others from both countries will be attending the festival that is being organized by Tripura Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC).

All tour operators, and leading cultural organizations from West Bengal and other northeastern states have also been invited. Prominent artists from both countries will be attending the festival, whereas a mega cultural programme will be held in the inaugural session of the festival on April 17.

An event on traditional food to enable visitors to sample the delicious indigenous cuisine of Tripura, at the main entrance of the palace, will also be a part of the said event.

Further, hotel owners, tour operators, and tourism officials from both countries will meet on April 19 at the auditorium of Gitanjali Tourist Residence to chalk out a roadmap for developing a tourist circuit in the region.

Referring to this, Tripura Tourism Minister stated that with the expansion of railway connectivity in Tripura and shorter road links with Bangladesh, the state got an exclusive opportunity to offer a unique experience of diversity to the tourists.

Besides, splendid hills, rivers, archeological sites, and Hindu and Buddhist temples, the tourists can reach the beautiful sea beaches of Southern Bangladesh by driving down only 120 km from here crossing the bridge over river Feni.
