Trump Hampshire

1. Donald Trump secures significant victory in New Hampshire GOP primary.
2. This marks his second successive win following the Iowa primary.
3. On the Democratic side, Joe Biden emerges victorious as a write-in candidate without actively campaigning or being on the ballot.

Washington D.C., Jan 24: In the New Hampshire primaries, held on Tuesday, former President Donald Trump secured a significant victory in the Republican presidential primary, marking his second successive win after Iowa.

On the Democratic front, current President Joe Biden emerged victorious as a write-in candidate, despite not actively campaigning or having his name on the ballot.

Donald Trump’s success in New Hampshire, following his triumph in Iowa, sets the stage for a potential re-match with Biden in the upcoming November 2024 presidential election.

Nikki Haley, Trump’s rival and former South Carolina governor, aimed to disrupt Trump’s momentum in this crucial state but finished second, with Trump securing 52.3% compared to Haley’s 46.6%, according to Edison Research.

For Biden, winning as a write-in candidate in New Hampshire’s Democratic primary, even without appearing on the ballot or campaigning, showcased his support.

This deviation from party rules, with New Hampshire’s primary preceding South Carolina’s, suggests the significance of the state in shaping the electoral narrative.

Trump’s victory in both Iowa and New Hampshire establishes him as the first Republican since 1976 to sweep these states, historically crucial in determining strong contenders for the presidency.

The New Hampshire primary marked a one-on-one competition between Trump and Haley after Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, a potential challenger, dropped out and endorsed Trump.

Despite Haley’s loss, she remains determined to compete strongly in her home state’s primary in South Carolina on February 24. Having finished third in Iowa, she hopes to present a formidable challenge and potentially secure a victory against Trump in South Carolina.

Exit polls from the New Hampshire primaries hint at potential challenges for Trump’s re-election bid.

Nearly half of Republican primary voters expressed doubts about Trump’s fitness to serve if convicted of the criminal charges he faces, including attempts to overturn the 2020 election results and alleged hush-money payments related to an affair with an adult star.

On the economic front, Edison’s exit poll revealed concerns among over two-thirds of Republican primary voters about the American economy, describing it as either poor or not good.

These results indicate complex dynamics shaping the political landscape as the 2024 presidential election approaches.
