ULFA-I Republic Day

Guwahati, January 23: Banned militant outfit United Liberation Front of Asom – Independent (ULFA-I) has decided not to call bandh on this year Republic Day.

The outfit also said that they will not conduct any armed protests on January 26.

ULFA-I said in a press statement that, it will not be issuing any bandh call on Republic Day 2022.

The banned outfit also said that they will not engage in armed protests on January 26.

Earlier, Assam Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma appealed to the outfit not to declare any bandh and issue any boycott call on Republic Day.

Welcoming the decision of ULFA-I not to call a bandh on Republic Day, the Assam Chief Minister has invited ULFA-I chief Paresh Baruah to come forward and take part in talks with the centre.

Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted, “I welcome ULFA’s decision not to call a bandh and desist from any resistance during Republic Day. I take this opportunity to once again appeal to Shri Paresh Baruah to come forward for a meaningful discussion with Govt of India.”
