Guwahati, Oct 09: Tensions escalated along the Assam-Nagaland border as unidentified individuals opened fire in Sonari, leaving two people injured. The incident unfolded on October 8 in Kanubari tea estate, located in Assam’s Charaideo district near the interstate border with Nagaland, creating a tense atmosphere in the region.

According to preliminary reports, the incident occurred when two Naga miscreants arrived at the tea estate on a motorcycle and engaged in an altercation. The intruders, armed with homemade handguns, proceeded to open fire, targeting the tea farm facilities and injuring two workers in the process.

The injured individuals have been identified as Dandu Mahali and Suresh Munda. The sudden gunfire created panic among other employees, some of whom also sustained injuries while attempting to flee the scene.

Local authorities have initiated an investigation into the incident, aiming to identify the culprits and determine the circumstances that led to the shooting. The situation along the Assam-Nagaland border remains tense as authorities work to restore calm and ensure the safety of residents in the affected areas.
