According to sources, interim vice-chancellors for nine other universities have also been identified, and appointment letters will be issued shortly.

The governor’s decision to appoint interim vice-chancellors aims to alleviate the challenges faced by students due to the absence of university leadership.

The criteria for selecting these interim leaders were based on eligibility, suitability, competence, willingness, and desirability, ensuring that capable individuals are entrusted with these responsibilities.

This move follows earlier remarks by the Governor, highlighting that while he is required to consult with the state government on vice-chancellor appointments, he does not require the state’s concurrence for such appointments. Furthermore, the Governor emphasized that university statutes do not mandate vice-chancellors to be exclusively academics.

These appointments mark a significant step in ensuring the effective functioning of these universities and the continuity of academic activities. As interim vice-chancellors take charge, they will play a pivotal role in maintaining the academic integrity and administrative stability of these esteemed institutions.
