1. West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose expresses concerns over alleged “snooping” at Raj Bhavan.
2. Claims to possess “reliable information” about the incident.
3. Informs relevant authorities and vows to “wait and watch” for further developments.
Kolkata, Nov 21: Amidst escalating tensions with the Trinamool government, West Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose has raised concerns about alleged “snooping” attempts at Raj Bhavan, his official residence in Kolkata. On Tuesday, Bose asserted that he possessed “reliable information” regarding the snooping and had brought the matter to the attention of relevant authorities.
While Bose did not specify the parties responsible for the alleged snooping, his strained relationship with the state government has been evident, mirroring the challenges faced by his predecessor. Earlier this month, Bose initiated an inquiry into the installation of new plaques at a university, prompting controversy. He also renamed the North Gate of Raj Bhavan as ‘Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore Gate’ after plaques without Tagore’s name triggered a dispute.

On November 16, Bose decried a prevailing culture of violence in Bengal politics following the murder of a TMC worker. He emphasized the need for both legal and social measures to address violence’s impact on politics in the state.
West Bengal Speaker Biman Banerjee highlighted delays in the governor’s approval of bills, stating that 22 bills had awaited approval at Raj Bhavan since 2011. Bose refuted the claim, stating that no bill was pending with him, except those requiring clarification from the state government or under court consideration.
The governor and the state government have clashed on various issues, including the appointment of university VCs, the state’s foundation day, the withholding of MGNREGA dues by the Centre, and incidents of political violence. The recent allegation of snooping adds another layer to the strained relations between Bose and the Trinamool government.
