Kolkata, Aug 28: In a harrowing incident that has sent shockwaves throughout West Bengal, three teenage boys have been arrested for kidnapping and brutally murdering a 14-year-old friend. The horrifying details of the crime have left the community in disbelief and underscore the tragic consequences of juvenile delinquency.

The incident unfolded in the quiet town of Krishnanagar, nestled in the Nadia district of West Bengal. In this seemingly peaceful locality, the lives of the residents were forever changed by the actions of three teenagers, who hatched a sinister plan that would result in the death of their own friend.

The victim, a Class VIII student and resident of Ghurni, mysteriously disappeared one fateful afternoon. He had ventured out to a nearby shop, a routine errand that would, unbeknownst to him, lead to his tragic end. The boy’s sudden disappearance raised alarm bells among his family and friends, prompting them to launch a frantic search.

The following morning, the boy’s mother received a chilling phone call that would turn her world upside down. The kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 3 lakh for the safe return of her son. Terrified and desperate to secure her child’s release, she contacted the local Kotwali Police Station, setting in motion a chain of events that would reveal the horrific truth.

The police swiftly launched an investigation, tracing the call to its source and narrowing down the suspects. Their relentless efforts led them to a heart-wrenching discovery: the lifeless body of the young boy, bound and concealed within a sack, submerged in a pond on the outskirts of Krishnanagar City.

The suspects, all students in the same school as the victim and in the tenth grade, were apprehended after they confessed to their heinous crime. The motive behind their actions remains a subject of ongoing investigation, but their chilling confession left law enforcement and the community in disbelief.

The trio revealed that they had kidnapped their friend with the intention of demanding a ransom. Their motive? To raise money for a computer, enabling them to play games. However, what followed is a tale of cruelty and callousness that defies comprehension.

In a shocking twist, the suspects disclosed that they strangled the victim to death after fulfilling what they referred to as his ‘last wish’ – a simple desire for ‘rosogulla’ and cold drinks. It is difficult to fathom the cold-blooded nature of the crime, as the young boy’s innocent request became his final moment.

The victim’s family had already faced hardship, with the boy’s father passing away long ago. His mother, working as a caregiver, struggled to make ends meet, and they resided with relatives. It is believed that the suspects, realizing that the ransom may be beyond the reach of the boy’s impoverished mother, chose to end his life out of fear of being apprehended by law enforcement.

The tragedy has sent shockwaves through the community, leaving many questioning the factors that led these teenagers to commit such a heinous act. The circumstances surrounding this horrific crime underscore the need for addressing juvenile delinquency and the importance of providing support and guidance to at-risk youth.

As the investigation continues, the heartbroken family and community mourn the loss of a young life, taken too soon in the most senseless and brutal manner. The incident serves as a grim reminder of the consequences of criminal behavior among youth and the urgent need for intervention and rehabilitation programs to prevent such tragedies from recurring.
