Imphal, Mar 01: The streets of Imphal Valley echoed with protests on February 29 as citizens rallied against the crackdown on village volunteers and Arambai Tenggol members. Demonstrators across various districts voiced staunch support for those defending against armed Kuki militants.
In a widespread sit-in protest during the day and torch-lit rallies led by women after dusk, protestors condemned government actions against the defenders, labeling them as unfortunate and unacceptable.
Emphasizing the vital role of village volunteers and Arambai Tenggol in thwarting Kuki aggression, protestors urged the government to appreciate their tireless efforts. “They are our protectors, our sons,” remarked one protester, highlighting their indispensable role in safeguarding the state’s peripheral areas.
Chants demanding the abrogation of the Suspension of Operation (SoO) pact with Kuki militants underscored the urgency of restoring peace.
