Itanagar, Nov 29: Two workers who were abducted by armed cadres of the militant group NSCN (K-YA) in the Longding district of Arunachal Pradesh have been released. The victims, identified as Sashank Kumar Yadav (Junior Engineer) and Liamgao PANSA supervisor, were abducted by three armed militants on November 16 and were released on November 28.

According to preliminary reports, the abduction took place on Kunsa Pongchau road from a makeshift labor camp near Tisa River in Longding district. The victims were then taken to Kunno zero point in a Bolero pickup truck, which was later disengaged at Kunno. The armed militants reportedly moved towards the Indo-Myanmar border after releasing the victims.

The abducted workers were part of the BTRF Project under the supervision of Shatrughan Singh. The kidnapping was allegedly carried out by Ss Lt. Col Botai Wangsu and Ss Lt. Abojak Wangnow of the NSCN K-YA faction.

The incident highlights the security challenges faced in certain regions, especially those with a presence of militant groups.
