Guwahati, Nov 05: The future of Assam’s cultural landscape has sparked discussions as concerns regarding harassment within the Assamese film community come to light.

On November 5, a group of young actors from the industry announced their intent to reveal uncomfortable truths. Notable figures like Bedabrot Borah, Nirupam Saikia, and Achinta Raj Kashyap have issued warnings to specific individuals within their social circles.

Assam actor Nirupam Saikia, in a Facebook post, issued a warning: “I am warning the three demons who are on my friend list. I will uncover your dark side on November 5.” Saikia expressed his intention to expose the hidden aspects of three individuals in his network.

Achinta Raj Kashyap, responding to Saikia’s post, emphasized the urgency of revealing these hidden truths. He noted “After seeing Nirupam Saikia’s post, I realized that he is saying the exact words I want to say. There are some demons among us, and it is high time to reveal them.”

Bedabrot Borah, known for his work in short films like “Ghorapaak” and “Jokhini,” also joined the pledge to unveil these ‘demons’ on November 5. Borah, through his Facebook page, shared his motivation: “I am in this line because I love it. People who know me know what I am like. Of course, there are many of my colleagues who are victims this time. So in the interest of cautioning the people who love me, I am thinking of removing a few demon masks on November 5. I’m asking for your suggestions.”

This collective effort to bring hidden issues to light has gained significant attention on social media. Many actors and actresses have joined these young actors in their mission to expose grim realities within the Assamese film industry.
