Agartala, March 10: With the Lok Sabha election on the horizon, Tripura gears up with the deployment of approximately 70 companies of Central Armed Paramilitary Forces (CAPF), totaling over 8000 personnel.

An unnamed senior Tripura Police official revealed that the election dates could be announced imminently.

Consequently, both the Tripura Police and the state government have actively sought the deployment of CAPF from the Central government and the Election Commission of India (ECI).

“We aim for a peaceful election and have therefore requested early deployment of CAPF from the Centre and ECI. They have agreed and dispatched the forces. We requisitioned 70 companies of CAPF, and they were sent accordingly,” said the official.

The deployment encompasses personnel from various central law enforcement agencies, including CRPF, CISF, and BSF, among others.

The deployment occurred in two phases, with around 50 companies arriving on March 1st and the remaining 20 companies arriving on March 7th.

In addition to the CAPF, Tripura Police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel have also been mobilized for election duties.

The deployed forces have commenced area domination activities to ensure law and order ahead of the elections.
