Manipur church

Imphal, June 29: Manipur witnessed another act of violence as miscreants set fire to an Eastern Manipur Presbyterian (EMP) church and a Kuki-Zo house in the constituency of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The incident occurred at Lamlongei, Heingang, late in the evening, and reports suggest that the perpetrators also looted the properties before fleeing the scene.

This recent act of arson follows another incident that took place just two days earlier when a shop was set ablaze in Chingmairong, shortly after Chief Minister N Biren Singh had met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi to discuss the state’s current situation. However, thanks to the prompt response from the police and fire department, the fire was extinguished by 2 am, preventing further damage.

Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or any significant mob gatherings resulting from these incidents. The security forces deployed in the state have been successful in maintaining law and order and swiftly bringing the situation under control.
