Aizawl, Oct 24: Ahead of the upcoming Mizoram elections, the Congress party has released its election manifesto, outlining a series of promises aimed at improving the lives of citizens.

These commitments include the provision of affordable LPG cylinders priced at Rs 750, the revival of an old pension scheme offering a monthly sum of Rs 2,000, and health insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakhs. These measures and more will be implemented if the Congress party secures victory in the Northeastern state.

The Mizoram Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) Spokesperson, Ronald Sapa Tlai, emphasized that the party’s primary objective is to establish a transparent and corruption-free administration that operates effectively. The party also aims to empower local governance by granting increased authority, responsibilities, and financial resources to village councils and local bodies.

Infrastructure development is another key focus for the Congress party, with plans to enhance connectivity, improve airports, and upgrade the electricity supply throughout the state. The party is committed to supporting farmers and entrepreneurs by launching the Young Mizo Entrepreneurs Program (YmElevate), which will offer startup funding and create 100,000 job opportunities for Mizo youth.

The Congress manifesto further outlines its intention to provide health insurance coverage of up to Rs 15 lakhs to families without government-employed members. Additionally, a budget of Rs 5 crores is allocated to assist terminally ill patients, while the Old Age Pension will be increased to Rs 2,000 per month.

The Congress party plans to offer subsidized LPG gas at the rate of Rs 750 per cylinder to eligible recipients, including those holding Antyodaya Anna Yojana (AAY) and Priority Households (PHH) cards, as well as households led by women. The party also commits to increasing aid to widows and individuals with disabilities under the National Social Assistance Program, providing a monthly sum of Rs 2,000 to eligible beneficiaries.
