Adil Hussain Among Other Artists From The North-East Who Made It Big on Bollywood

Northeast, Dec 24: A list of Adil Hussain and other artists from the NorthEast of India who have made it big on Bollywood.

In the past few years, there have been several debates about how ignorantly the artists from the Northeast have been treated. Recently, a controversy erupted over Raghav Juyal’s comments. Actors from the region have explained how things have improved for them over the years, but they still face challenges in their quest to become a significant presence on the big screen.

We’ve rounded up some of the most well-known actors from the northeast who have made a name for themselves in Bollywood.

Adil Hussain

A native of Assam, Adil Hussain is one of the most popular actors in show business today. In addition to his full-time work as a stand-up comedian, he also worked for the mobile theatre. After completing the National School of Drama, he worked on films in Hindi, English, Assamese, Tamil, Bengali, Malayalam, Marathi, French, and Norwegian.

 

Danny Denzongpa

Danny Denzongpa, an actor, director, and singer of Sikkimese heritage, has been an accomplished name since the 1990s. In addition to Bollywood and Nepali films, he also appeared in Bengali, Telugu, and Tamil films. During his four decades of acting, he has starred in more than 190 Hindi films. He was also bestowed with the Padma Shree award in 2003.

 

Dipannita Sharma

Dipannita Sharma hails from Assam. She has won hearts with her performances in Hindi films such as ‘Pizza‘, ‘Ladies vs Ricky Bahl‘, and ‘My Brother… Nikhil‘. Additionally, she has featured in numerous advertisements and is a known face among viewers.

 

Geetanjali Thapa

After beginning her career as a model, she made her feature film debut with Tina Ki Chaabi in 2010. However, it was her performance in her third film I.D. which earned her numerous accolades at both the Los Angeles and Madrid Film Festivals that, including her Best Actress award. Her performance in Liar’s Dice earned Geetanjali the National Film Award for Best Actress (2013).

 

Lin Laishram

Model and actress Lin Laishram hails from Manipur. Om Shanti Om, a film she appeared in, attracted a number of eyes. Mary Kom, a National award-winning movie with Priyanka Chopra, saw her play Bembem.
