AIUDF

Guwahati, Oct 21: Badruddin Ajmal, the chief of the All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) and a renowned perfume magnate, declared on October 20 that the party would not pursue alliances with either the Congress or the BJP in the upcoming 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Instead, the AIUDF is preparing to contest the elections independently, demonstrating confidence in its ability to secure three seats.

According to Ajmal, the Congress is no longer a political force to be reckoned with in Assam, and, as such, forming alliances with them or the BJP is out of the question.

However, he hinted at the potential for future adjustments or collaborations with other parties in the state.

“We are currently planning to contest the Lok Sabha elections on our own,” Ajmal stated. “A new development is underway, and we may have to make adjustments with another party in the coming days. We will not, under any circumstances, form an alliance with the Congress, even if they express a desire to do so. There are several other parties involved, and developments are ongoing. We will inform you in due course. There will be no alliance with the BJP either. Everything is under wraps.”

Ajmal emphasized the unfeasibility of alliances with both the Congress and the BJP, suggesting that the Congress, in particular, has lost its influence in Assam.

He expressed doubt about the Congress’s ability to win a single seat in the Lok Sabha elections, emphasizing that even securing one seat would be a significant achievement for them.

Although Ajmal did not disclose the names of the parties involved, he noted that negotiations are in progress regarding the other two seats. His remarks indicate that the AIUDF is poised to independently contest the Lok Sabha elections in Assam or potentially collaborate with a different political entity in the state.
