It is important to mention that Amritpal Singh and a total of 9 Khalistani sympathisers are currently being questioned by national security agencies while being detained at Dibrugarh Central Jail.

Since the authorities began a raid against the leader and his followers on March 18th, Amritpal Singh was dodging the Punjab authorities.

Nine of Amritpal’s aides – Daljit Singh Kalsi, Papalpreet Singh, Kulwant Singh Dhaliwal, Varinder Singh Johal, Gurmeet Singh Bukkanwala, Harjit Singh, Bhagwant Singh, Basant Singh, and Gurinderpal Singh Aujla – have been detained in Assam’s Dibrugarh jail.

Since Singh and his cronies were brought to be detained there, Dibrugarh jail has been transformed into a high-security facility. In addition to Assam Police troops, a Punjab Police squad is also present in the jail.

Amritpal Singh was taken into custody in the Gurdwara Janam Asthan Sant Khalsa of Rode village in Moga, which is where militant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, who was killed, is from. Singh has been detained under the strict National Security Act (NSA) and is accused of extortion, kidnapping, and attempted murder, among other offences.
