Goalpara, April 27: A large fire at Laxmipur Rajmita in Assam’s Goalpara district resulted in the death of a woman on Wednesday. According to sources, the deceased woman was cooking in the kitchen when a fire erupted abruptly, quickly spreading throughout the residence.
The deceased woman was locked inside the house while her distraught family members yelled for assistance from outside. After hearing the screams, neighbors went to the house and began putting out the fire. Unfortunately, by the time the fire was extinguished, the woman was charred to death inside the kitchen.

The deceased woman has been identified as Sakina Khatun (45).
Later, officers from the Jaleshwar and Lakhipur police stations arrived, assessed the situation, and transported the deceased woman’s body to the Goalpara civic hospital for a post-mortem.
