Itanagar, Feb 09: Amidst preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, Tai Tagak, Advisor to Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has expressed his desire to contest from the parliamentary constituency currently represented by Union Minister Kiren Rijiju.

Tagak, eyeing the Arunachal West parliamentary seat, emphasized that his decision stems from the encouragement of people in the state who see him as a senior party leader. He affirmed his willingness to step up to the challenge if deemed suitable by the party leadership.

“People have suggested that I represent Arunachal in Parliament. They feel it’s time for me to express my intentions to the party. I am indeed vying for the party’s candidate selection. If the party leadership deems me fit, I will accept the responsibility,” stated Tagak.

Addressing concerns about Kiren Rijiju, Tagak clarified that his candidacy does not reflect any opposition to the Union Minister.

Acknowledging Rijiju’s tenure and contributions, Tagak advocated for providing opportunities to others within the party.

“While I hold no reservations against him, Kiren ji has served multiple terms. Our party has grown, and there are numerous hopefuls for the ticket. However, the decision lies with the party, and I respect that. If nominated, I’m prepared to gauge public sentiment,” Tagak explained.

Asserting his allegiance to the BJP, Tagak emphasized his long-standing association with the party since 1995, reaffirming his commitment regardless of the ticket outcome.

“I’ve been a BJP member since 1995, and this remains my sole party. Whether or not I receive the ticket is secondary. The selection process is underway, and I am willing to participate if deemed suitable. My loyalty remains unwavering,” Tagak affirmed.
