Curling, a strategic sport involving the precise sliding of stones across an ice sheet toward a target area, shares similarities with bowls, boules, and shuffleboard.

The game comprises two teams of four players each, taking turns to slide heavy, polished granite stones, known as ‘rocks,’ toward ‘the house’—a circular target marked on the ice. With each player throwing two stones, the primary objective is to accumulate the highest points in a game.

Points are awarded for stones resting closest to the center of the house at the end of each round or ‘end.’

An end concludes when all stones from both teams have been thrown once. Typically, a game consists of either eight or ten ends.
