Guwahati April 27: In the midst of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Congress Chief Mallikarjun Kharge’s open letter to Prime Minister Modi regarding the Congress manifesto has sparked controversy.

Kharge, currently on his campaign trail in Assam, addressed the press in Guwahati, emphasizing his dialogue with PM Modi rather than Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

He asserted his competency in parliamentary affairs and his role as the leader of the opposition in the Rajya Sabha, indicating Modi as his parliamentary opponent.

This statement followed Assam CM Sarma’s offer to Kharge to join the BJP, in response to Kharge’s call for PM Modi to review the Congress manifesto.

Sarma questioned the necessity for further discussions, citing the manifesto’s availability in Hindi and English, languages proficiently understood by Modi.

The exchange escalated as Kharge penned an open letter to Modi, offering clarification on the Congress manifesto’s essence, following Modi’s critique.

This letter, shared by Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, aimed to elucidate the Nyay Patra’s objectives for the nation’s welfare.
