New Delhi, Feb 17: Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi’s Chief Minister, appeared before a Delhi court via video conference on Saturday, seeking exemption from physical presence due to the ongoing budget session and a confidence motion in the assembly.

He cited these engagements for missing five summons related to an excise policy case filed by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). The court permitted him to appear physically on March 16.

During the video conference, Kejriwal informed the court about his inability to attend physically due to the crucial discussion on the confidence motion and the ongoing budget session. His counsel assured the court that Kejriwal would be present in person on the next hearing date.

The court had previously directed Kejriwal to appear before it on February 17 in response to a complaint by the ED regarding his repeated non-compliance with summonses related to a money laundering case linked to Delhi’s liquor policy.

The ED, after Kejriwal missed five summonses, moved the court, emphasizing his legal obligation to comply.

This latest development comes after the ED issued a sixth summons to Kejriwal, scheduling his questioning for February 19 in connection with the money laundering case linked to the liquor policy.

Kejriwal’s appearance in court on March 16 is expected to address the legal proceedings initiated by the ED against him for non-compliance with previous summonses.
