Assam, May 23: As the country is struggling to contain a devastating second wave of the coronavirus pandemic, the Assam Skill Development Mission (ASDM) asked people to follow COVID guidelines no matter what be the emergency.
“No matter what be the emergency, following #COVID19 appropriate behaviour is a must. Keep a safe physical distance from those around you and always cover your nose and mouth with a mask,” ASDM tweeted.

Two days back institute shared a small video to aware people to maintain the social distancing even if stepping out to buy the essential products.
Outside buying essentials? Make sure to stand in a queue and maintain a distance of at least 6 feet from others.

Assam Skill Development mission is registered under Society Act in 2015 and is working under newly created Skill, Employment & Entrepreneurship Department, Govt. of Assam with the visions of capacity building of unemployed youth and delivering quality skill training leading to meaningful employment to stimulate the economy of the state.

ASDM signed an MoU with ITEES, Singapore as the Global Knowledge Partner for establishing North East Skill Centre (NESC) at Guwahati. The objective of establishing an NESC is to offer high-quality skills training for the masses especially the rural youth. In the first phase, NESC will provide training under the following sectors: Retail, Beauty & Wellness, and Hospitality- Housekeeping and Hospitality – F&B Services.
ASDM has trained at least 1,18,585 candidates. For the financial year 2020-21, the total target of 26,600 has been allotted to 396 training Centres, covering 33 districts in 24 Sectors and 83 unique job roles.
The centres were launched in December 2017, with a vision to provide Short Term Training to the youth so it helps them to gain employment in the state, however, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all the training centres across the state were closed from March 2020.
