Guwahati, Aug 20: Assam Police arrested people in the Karimganj district on Friday for allegedly posing as CBI officers with a view to extort money.

The arrested people had been diagnosed as Dilwar Hussain and Rashid Ahmed.

Partha Pratim Das, Additional Superintendent of Police of Karimganj district, stated that, on August 18, they’d obtained a grievance from a businessman from the Patharkandi area.

“The businessman had obtained an extortion name and the person that used to impersonate himself as a CBI officer had demanded ₹ 2 lakh. Immediately we tracked the cellular mobile phone variety and released an operation and apprehended people particularly Dilwar Hussain and Rashid Ahmed. Rashid Ahmed had used the cellular telecellsmartphone of Dilwar Hussain and impersonated himself as a CBI officer,” Das stated.

Police registered a case in opposition to the duo. Further research is underway.
