Guwahati, March 11: The Assam ruling party Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) ally, Asom Gana Parishad (AGP), has officially unveiled its list of candidates for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections, adhering to a strategy focused on fielding formidable contenders.

Sources indicate that Phanibhushan Choudhury will represent AGP from the Barpeta Lok Sabha seat, while Zabed Islam is set to contest from the Dhubri Lok Sabha constituency in the upcoming election.

Simultaneously, Raju Kumar Narzary has been nominated by the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) to contest from the Kokrajhar Lok Sabha constituency.

Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma informed the media that discussions regarding the candidates took place in New Delhi on February 29.

It is noteworthy that the Bharatiya Janata Party will be contesting 11 out of 14 seats, allocating two seats to its allies AGP (Barpeta and Dhubri) and one to the United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) for Kokrajhar.
