Guwahati, May 11: In a dramatic turn of events, a suspected poacher met his demise in a confrontation with forest rangers at Kaziranga National Park on the morning of May 11.
The encounter unfolded in Agratali, an area within the vast Kaziranga National Park. The poacher was reportedly confronted near a forest camp located in the Rangamataria range along the park’s eastern boundary.
During the confrontation, the poacher sustained fatal gunshot wounds in the exchange of fire with vigilant forest staff. The rangers, displaying courage and determination, successfully neutralized the threat posed by the poacher.
After the altercation subsided, authorities conducted a meticulous search of the area. The search yielded crucial evidence linking the deceased poacher to illegal activities.

Among the confiscated items were a 3.3 rifle, three live bullets, and a significant cache of two thousand empty cartridges, indicating the scale of the poacher’s unlawful activities.
Following established legal procedures, the body of the deceased poacher was promptly recovered in the presence of a magistrate.
Subsequently, a comprehensive autopsy was initiated to determine the exact cause of death.
