Congress INDIA

Guwahati, Sept 11: In a scathing critique, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma accused the Congress party of exploiting the terms ‘INDIA’ and ‘Bharat’ for its political advantage. Sarma’s comments were made during the two-day national executive meeting of the BJP’s Mahila Morcha in Guwahati.

Sarma denounced opposition leaders as “the leaders of duplicates” and took issue with the Congress party using ‘INDIA’ as an acronym for its alliance, the ‘Indian National Developmental Inclusive Alliance.’ He argued that the Congress party selectively uses ‘India’ and ‘Bharat‘ based on its political convenience.

According to Sarma, the Congress party adopted the Gandhi surname and subsequently embraced the name ‘INDIA’ for their alliance. He criticized their tactics of conducting ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ during election campaigns and then rebranding themselves as ‘INDIA’ after the Karnataka elections. Sarma described them as “leaders of duplicates” who had seized the Gandhi surname and claimed titles without achieving anything to bring glory to India.

Sarma emphasized that the Congress party lacked the right to use the name ‘India,’ let alone ‘Bharat,’ and urged Rahul Gandhi to relinquish the surname ‘Gandhi,’ which he considered a duplicate title.

A recent controversy arose when an invitation for a G20 dinner, sent by President Droupadi Murmu in her capacity as “President of Bharat” instead of “President of India,” sparked debates about the use of terminology at a national level.

In response to Sarma’s comments, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi offered a lighthearted perspective, stating that he did not take issue with either name, ‘INDIA’ or ‘Bharat.’ He suggested that the government might have been irritated by their choice of ‘INDIA’ as the coalition’s name and humorously added that they could consider giving the coalition a second name.
