Agartala Sept 11: Newly elected members of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly will take oath on September 12, marking the beginning of their legislative journey.

The oath-taking ceremony is set to take place at 12 noon in the distinguished lobby of the Tripura Legislative Assembly, signifying a significant moment in the state’s political landscape.

This announcement was officially conveyed by the Additional Secretary of the Tripura Assembly Secretariat through a press release.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates for the Boxanagar and Dhanpur Assembly constituencies, where by-polls were conducted on September 5, secured resounding victories in the elections.

The electoral battle in these two constituencies was primarily contested between the ruling BJP and the opposition Communist Party of India (Marxist), or CPI(M). Notably, other opposition parties chose not to participate in these by-polls.

For the Boxanagar constituency, the BJP fielded Tafajjal Hossain, while Bindu Debnath represented the party in the Dhanpur constituency. Their counterparts from the CPI(M) were Mizan Hossein in Boxanagar and Kaushik Chanda in Dhanpur.

The election results revealed a clear mandate in favor of the BJP candidates. In Boxanagar, after the conclusion of the sixth round of counting, Tafajjal Hossain secured victory with an impressive 34,146 votes, while Mizan Hossein of the CPI(M) received 3,909 votes.

Similarly, in the Dhanpur constituency, BJP candidate Bindu Debnath emerged victorious with a substantial vote count of 30,017, leaving Kaushik Chanda of the CPI(M) trailing with 11,146 votes.

This resounding victory for the BJP in both constituencies reaffirms the party’s stronghold in Tripura and bolsters its representation in the state assembly.

As the newly elected MLAs prepare to take their oaths on September 12, the political landscape of Tripura is poised for further developments and legislative actions.
