Guwahati, Jan 25: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on January 25, unveiled the inaugural volume of ‘Political History of Assam (1947-1971)’- Volume 1, emphasizing the need to rewrite history based on factual evidence rather than ideological perspectives.

During the release event of Shri Rajen Saikia’s book on the political history of Assam, CM Sarma highlighted the importance of presenting history objectively, without bias towards any ideology.

He expressed a commitment to presenting Assam’s political events from 1947 to 2020 in a comprehensive three-volume series, scheduled for completion by 2025.

In his address, CM Sarma drew attention to historical figures like Lachit Borphukan and Raja Prithu, underscoring the need to shed light on lesser-known heroes and events.

He recounted an incident where he presented a book on Raja Prithu to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who expressed surprise at the lack of Hindi publications on this freedom fighter.

The chief minister stressed the importance of presenting history without leaning towards leftist or rightist perspectives.

He urged the author, Rajen Saikia, to ensure that the narrative remains unbiased and serves as an accurate portrayal of Assam’s political history.
