Guwahati, Feb 04: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, on February 4, heralded the launch of several transformative infrastructural projects in Guwahati in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, currently on a two-day visit to the state.

This visit aims to lay the groundwork for projects totaling Rs 11,600 crore.

Commending PM Modi for steering Assam toward a new era of development, CM Sarma highlighted the absence of protests or agitations over the past three years.

He attributed the state’s progress to PM Modi’s guidance, noting the surrender of proscribed militant organizations to join the mainstream.

Expressing optimism about placing Assam on the global map, the chief minister announced that PM Modi would lay the foundation for key projects, marking a significant stride in the state’s overall infrastructural development.

The occasion is historic as Assam witnesses the launch of multiple projects worth Rs 11,600 crore in a single day.

The array of projects includes 23 medical colleges, an elevated corridor in Kaziranga, the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital’s upgrade, Cancer Hospitals, key roads and bridges, creation of 1 lakh jobs, and free rice distribution for the lower-income group. These initiatives promise to reshape the state’s evolving landscape.

PM Modi’s arrival in Guwahati was met with an enthusiastic welcome at the State Guest House, Koinadhara.

The day kicked off with his early touchdown at Guwahati’s Lokapriya Gopinath Bordoloi Airport, where he was warmly received by CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, Governor Gulab Chand Kataria, and other distinguished guests.

The airport premises buzzed with the beats of traditional dance, showcasing Assam’s vibrant cultural tapestry.

Despite an early arrival, initially scheduled for 7:30 pm, PM Modi’s presence did not diminish the spirits of the large crowd gathered to extend their heartfelt greetings.

The festive atmosphere continued as thousands congregated in Khanapara in the evening to illuminate a breathtaking display of 1,00,000 diyas.

This joyous celebration, marked by splendid visuals, embodied the spirit of #PMModiInAssam, encapsulating the anticipation and enthusiasm surrounding the transformative initiatives for the state’s development.
