Guwahati, Feb 28: Amidst the ongoing turmoil within Assam Congress, senior leader Rana Goswami, who recently resigned as organisational in-charge of Upper Assam, is anticipated to join BJP on March 4, as per insider sources.
According to reports, Goswami is scheduled to meet Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma and later BJP National President JP Nadda on February 28.
It’s speculated that his formal induction into the BJP fold will take place on March 4, with careful consideration given to auspicious timing.

Despite attempts by AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal to reach out to Goswami, there has been no response from the latter.
In his resignation letter addressed to APCC chief Bhupen Borah, Goswami cited ‘several political reasons’ for his decision to step down from his organizational role.
On February 14, two Congress MLAs, Kamalakhya Dey Purkayastha and Basanta Das, declared their support for the government while remaining within the Congress party.
This move follows the footsteps of two other Congress MLAs, Sashi Kanta Das and former minister Siddique Ahmed, who had previously aligned themselves with the government while retaining their membership in the opposition party’s legislative group.
