Guwahati, March 12: In preparation for the upcoming Assam Assembly elections, the Assam Congress has made significant strides in finalizing candidates for the state’s legislative seats, although decisions for key constituencies are still pending.

Confirmed candidates have been announced for 10 seats, with AJP’s Lurinjyoti Gogoi slated to contest from Dibrugarh, representing the party’s alliance.

However, crucial decisions remain unresolved for constituencies including Lakhimpur, Jorhat, Nagaon, and Sonitpur.

Within the party hierarchy, recommendations from Sonia Gandhi have added complexity to the decision-making process. Bhupen Borah has been suggested to contest from Sonitpur, while Gaurav Gogoi or Debabrata Saikia are under consideration for Jorhat, and Pradyut Bordoloi for Nagaon.
