Guwahati, May 21: The District Commissionerate of Police in Guwahati, Assam, has taken proactive measures to maintain peace and public order within the city.
In response to credible reports indicating that specific organizations are planning protests, the Commissionerate has implemented Section 144 of the Code of Criminal Procedure
(CrPC). The move aims to prevent any potential disturbances and ensure the smooth
functioning of the city.
The decision to impose Section 144 of CrPC comes after receiving information about specific and unspecified organizations that are likely to disrupt the normal operations of offices, impede public movement, and disturb traffic flow within the jurisdiction of the Police Commissioner.
Concerns exist that these organizations plan to stage agitations, demonstrations, and chant slogans, potentially leading to a breach of peace and public order. Such activities may also cause disruptions to the peaceful movement of the public, traffic, and the daily routines of local residents and offices in the affected area.
In order to safeguard the safety and well-being of citizens, the Commissioner of Police, Guwahati, Assam, has deemed it necessary to enforce Section 144 of CrPC.
