Assam job

Guwahati, April 19: The Assam government is set to make history by providing 50,000 job appointment letters in a single day, marking the second anniversary of the state’s second BJP-led government on May 10.

This will be the biggest recruitment process in the state’s history, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah representing the government to hand over the appointment letters.

The Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma, tweeted that this mega exercise aims to deliver on their promise of generating one lakh jobs. The BJP formed its second successive government in 2021 with the goal of providing one lakh jobs to young people in the government sector. Since then, the government has appointed 41,920 candidates in the sector.

Aside from government jobs, the state government is also encouraging self-employment. The state assembly passed a budget for the 2023-24 financial year, allocating Rs 5,000 crore over three years to the “Mukhya Mantri Sva-Niyojan Mission.”

The mission aims to create self-employment opportunities for two lakh youths in the state, enabling them to stand on their own and become job creators.

The government has identified various income-generating activities such as trading, manufacturing, service, food processing, handloom, handicraft, agriculture, allied-animal husbandry activities, fishery, and dairy for self-employment.

The government plans to provide one-time seed capital of Rs 2 lakh in tranches to eligible beneficiaries to start micro-enterprise units over the next three years, covering one lakh beneficiaries.

The state government’s efforts to create job opportunities and promote self-employment reflect its commitment to supporting the state’s youth. These initiatives will help to address unemployment and provide the youth with the necessary resources to start their businesses and contribute to the state’s development.
