Guwahati, March 17: In Assam, a biggest ever drugs bust, a team of East Guwahati Police District (EGPD) from Sonapur Police Station led by ADCP Bibekanand Das seized a total of 4.6 lakh Yaba tablets, 12 kg of Methamphetamine, and 1.5 kg of Heroin from a truck.

The Assam police team intercepted a truck at the Tollgate near Sonapur and arrested two smugglers with drugs.

The drugs were being smuggled inside a secret compartment between the driver’s cabin and the goods carriage space of the truck.

“This major haul is a huge blow to the drug trafficking chain in the region. While the investigation is on, the two persons arrested so far in this connection,” a police official said.

The arrested persons were identified as Khangembam Mangi Singh (43) of Chingtham village under Khongjom PS in Thoubal district of Manipur and Shagolsem Manglemjao Singh (32) of  Sapam under Khongjom PS in Thoubal district of Manipur. Legal action has been initiated.
