Guwahati, March 16: The Election Commission of India (ECI), under the leadership of Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar, has unveiled the detailed schedule for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Assam. Spanning across three phases, the polls are scheduled for April 19, April 26, and May 7.

1st Phase: April 19, 2024

To ensure a smooth voting process, the ECI has set up an extensive network of 10.5 lakh polling booths nationwide.

These booths are equipped with essential facilities to accommodate all voters, including those with special needs, reaffirming the commission’s commitment to fostering a seamless electoral experience.

Recognizing the pivotal role of youth in shaping the country’s future, special emphasis has been placed on empowering first-time voters and individuals in the 20-29 age group.

With approximately 1.8 crore first-time voters and 19.74 crore young voters, targeted initiatives featuring renowned personalities like Sachin Tendulkar and Rajkummar Rao, alongside social media campaigns and radio engagements, aim to amplify youth participation in the electoral process.

Furthermore, efforts to enhance gender parity in electoral participation have yielded encouraging results.

The growing presence of women in electoral rolls highlights the increasing importance of women’s involvement in shaping the nation’s trajectory.

Over 85 lakh first-time women voters are poised to exercise their constitutional rights in the upcoming election, reflecting a positive stride towards greater inclusivity and representation.
