Guwahati, Nov 06: A police constable from Assam, assigned to election duty in Mizoram, has gone missing since November 5. He was stationed at Middle School II, Ngopa Village, Saitual District, Mizoram, for election-related responsibilities.

The missing constable, identified as Sabin Nath and belonging to the 9th Battalion of the Assam Police, has prompted the Village Council and various NGOs to initiate search operations. His disappearance was reported on Monday morning, around 6:30 a.m.

According to local sources, a group of 92 police personnel from the 9th Battalion of Assam Police arrived in Ngopa Village for election duty. They were distributed into different camps, and Sabin Nath was posted at Middle School II.

Locals have suggested that the missing constable might have been dealing with a drinking issue, as he reportedly inquired about purchasing liquor before disappearing. He was last seen wearing his police uniform.

Authorities have alerted all nearby police stations and outposts in the neighboring villages and the Ngopa area to assist in locating the missing police personnel.
