Guwahati, April 16: In the early hours of Tuesday, armed miscreants launched a brazen attack on an Assam Rifles vehicle carrying a patrol team in the Namdang area of Tinsukia, situated on the Changlang road in Margherita.

Reports indicate that the assailants, who remain unidentified at this time, initiated the assault by opening fire on the Assam Rifles vehicle. The attack resulted in a chaotic scene, with heavy gunfire continuing as security forces responded to the aggression.

Initial assessments suggest that the perpetrators behind the attack may be suspected cadres affiliated with the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN).
